Isn't It Amazing

My thought for today

Isn’t it amazing that, in the first five minutes after waking up, I learned that Israel had fired missiles into Iran to retaliate for Iran firing missiles into Israel, to remind Israel that it can’t fire missiles into Beirut and still call it a cease-fire?

Isn’t it amazing that, in the country I live in, the one made almost entirely of immigrants, people who are only guilty of trying to survive are being hunted, captured, and hidden in concentration camps?

Isn’t it amazing that, in a place as close to me as Newark, New Jersey, three people I actually know have been standing out in front of one of these camps, getting shot with pellets and tear gas as they peacefully protest? This is happening less than twenty miles from my Manhattan apartment.

Isn’t it amazing that, when they run out of migrants, many of us will see what is behind the walls of these camps? Prisons don’t make money without inmates.

Amazing.

Isn’t it amazing that one of the world’s largest markets, South Korea, crashed so hard today that they had to halt trading?

Isn’t it amazing that, as I sit here looking out my window at Wall Street, I know the war with Iran has disrupted supply chains, international fuel markets are under pressure, and we may be standing at the edge of a massive food supply disruption?

Isn’t it amazing that the World Health Organization has warned us to prepare for another global pandemic, there is an Ebola outbreak going on, and our government has disabled most, if not all, of our front-line defenses against the threat of a national health emergency?

Isn’t it amazing that the largest daylight bank robbery in history is happening to the American taxpayers, everyone seems to be in on it, and it just keeps getting worse and more obscene every day?

Isn’t it amazing that all of these things are going on right now in my head, and I was still able to get up, take a shower, pull my pants on, have a cup of coffee, and go about my day?

Isn’t it amazing that we aren’t all completely insane by now?

Human beings really are amazing.
